Aman Foundation Delhi | NGO for Women Empowerment & Skill Development
Aman Foundation, a Delhi-based NGO, empowers women through skill development, awareness, and livelihood support. Discover real stories of courage and change.
Why Women Empowerment Matters
When you walk through the narrow lanes of Delhi’s slum clusters, you’ll see women everywhere — cooking, cleaning, looking after children, carrying water, working in households. They do everything. And yet, their own dreams are often left behind.
At Aman Foundation, we often ask ourselves: what if these women had the same chances that others get? What if instead of just surviving, they could lead, earn, and inspire? That thought keeps us working, because we believe empowering women doesn’t just change their lives — it changes entire families, even whole communities.
What We See on the Ground
In our work as a women empowerment NGO in Delhi, we meet countless women whose stories carry the weight of both struggle and strength.
- Many had to drop out of school early.
- Some are dependent on daily-wage husbands who earn just enough for food.
- Many dream of doing more, but lack skills, confidence, or support.
But here’s the beautiful part: once women are given even a little opportunity, they rise. And when they rise, they bring everyone along with them.
Our Work with Women at Aman Foundation
1. Skill Development – Turning Hands into Tools of Change
We run tailoring classes, computer basics, and handicraft workshops. These are not just “courses.” They are doors to independence.
✨ Take Shabnam’s story. She used to clean houses. After attending our tailoring training, she started stitching blouses for neighbors. Slowly, orders grew. Today, she runs a small tailoring unit with two other women. She says, “Now my children look at me with pride. I feel like I matter.”
2. Self-Help Groups – Women Supporting Women
Aman Foundation forms self-help groups (SHGs) where women come together, save small amounts, and support each other. These groups become more than financial circles; they become safe spaces to share, to learn, to heal.
We’ve seen women who never stepped out alone now confidently running meetings, managing accounts, and even giving small loans to others.
3. Awareness Programs – Knowledge is Power
Empowerment is not only about money. It’s also about knowing your rights, your health, and your worth.
- We organize sessions on women’s health, hygiene, and nutrition.
- We spread awareness about legal rights and protection.
- We talk openly about gender equality and why it matters.
Many women tell us these sessions changed how they see themselves. One participant said, “I never knew I had rights too. Now I know, and I’ll make sure my daughter knows too.”
4. Job Placements – From Learning to Earning
After training, we don’t just say goodbye. We connect women with small businesses, factories, and shops where they can put their skills to use. Some even start their own ventures.
Every woman who earns her first income tells us the same thing: “It feels like freedom.”
The Ripple Effect of Empowered Women
Here’s the magic: when a woman earns, she doesn’t spend just on herself. She invests in her children’s education, in better food, in the family’s future.
- Children go to school instead of dropping out.
- Families eat better.
- The whole community respects her more.
We’ve seen young girls looking at their mothers and saying, “If she can do it, so can I.” That ripple effect is why NGOs for women empowerment in Delhi like ours are so important.
Challenges We Face
Of course, it’s not easy.
- Many husbands resist women stepping out for training.
- Some women themselves feel they are “too old” or “not smart enough.”
- Social barriers and safety concerns sometimes hold them back.
But every time a woman overcomes these hurdles, she sets an example for others. And slowly, change spreads.
Why Aman Foundation Focuses on Women
Because we’ve seen it firsthand: women are the backbone of every home. Empower them, and everything else improves — education, health, income.
Our approach is not about charity. It’s about giving tools, knowledge, and opportunities. Because women don’t need saving. They just need support to unlock the strength they already have.
How You Can Be Part of This Movement
You don’t need to be a policymaker or a millionaire to support women empowerment. Small steps matter:
- Donate: Support training programs with books, sewing machines, or even stipends.
- Volunteer: Teach a skill, give a talk, or mentor a woman starting her journey.
- Partner with Us: Companies can support through CSR programs.
- Spread the Word: Talk about women’s rights, share stories, inspire others.
👉 Remember, empowerment is contagious. Once you help one woman, she helps many more.
Voices of Change
- “I never thought I would earn my own money. Now I can. It feels like I’ve got wings.” – Anita, tailoring trainee
- “Earlier, I used to keep quiet in family decisions. Now, my opinion matters.” – Farzana, SHG member
- “Working with Aman Foundation has been eye-opening. These women have taught me what real strength looks like.” – Volunteer
Our Future Goals for Women Empowerment
By 2026, Aman Foundation aims to:
- Train at least 2,000 women in livelihood skills.
- Launch a women entrepreneur fund for small businesses.
- Expand self-help groups to more slum clusters.
- Provide advanced digital training for young women.
We know it’s a big dream. But every time a woman smiles with confidence, we feel we’re moving closer.
Final Thoughts – When Women Rise, Everyone Rises
At Aman Foundation, we often say: women don’t just carry families, they carry the future.
Empowering women is not a side project. It is the heart of building a fair, equal, and strong society. We’ve seen it happen, one woman at a time. And the journey is far from over.
If you’re reading this, maybe it’s a sign. Maybe you can be part of this change. Because when women rise, entire communities rise with them.
And that’s the kind of Delhi we want to see. That’s the kind of India we want to leave behind.
